I'm a bit of a Jaromir Jagr skeptic, with his vacillation and contract teases, but Elliotte Friedman has a good piece on his crazy workouts and dedication to training, on or off-ice.
It looks like Jaromir Jagr is in a class of his own, reminiscent of Walter Payton, who also had a fanatical devotion to fitness his entire life. He used to run up a slope, which was dreaded by his teammates and spoken of reverently as The Hill, since they'd try to join him for those workouts and could only last a couple of days, they couldn't withstand the pace, even guys who were much younger and supposed workout warriors.
You can either admire Mr. Jagr, and I mostly do, for this, but you can also wonder about the empty apartment, and whether he lives a full enough life.
